Knowing the age of your pool equipment helps with warranty coverage, maintenance planning, and upgrade decisions. Here’s a quick guide to locate and decode Hayward (and Goldline) serial numbers so you can pinpoint when your unit was made. Step 1: Locate the Serial Number

Each product has a unique serial number, usually found on a label or stamped into the unit. Check these common spots:

• Pumps: On the pump housing, near the outlet

• Filters: Front-facing label or molded into the body

• Heaters: Inside the cabinet or on the exterior

• Cleaners: Underside of the body, near the filter canister/suction port, or under the lid (varies by model)

• Automation/Controls: Inside the control panel door

Important: Use the serial number from the equipment housing, not from the motor or any secondary component.

Step 2: Decode the Serial Number

Hayward uses a few different formats depending on product family and year. Match what you see on your label to one of the formats below:

Hayward Products — August 2015–Present (17-digit format)

Example format: 2112-1911-003216017

• First two digits: always 21

• 3rd–4th digits: manufacturing location (e.g., 10 Canada, 11 Pomona, CA, 12 Clemmons, NC, 13 Nashville, TN)

• 5th–6th digits: year of manufacture (19 → 2019)

• 7th–8th digits: month of manufacture (11 → November)
  Example: 2112-1911-... ⇒ made November 2019 in Clemmons, NC.

Hayward Products — March 2010–July 2015 (17-digit format with parentheses)

Example format: (21)12-1003-010005002

• First two digits: (21) (shown in parentheses on older labels)

• 3rd–4th digits: manufacturing location (12 = Clemmons, NC)

• 5th–6th digits: year (10 → 2010)

• 7th–8th digits: month (03 → March)
  Example: (21)12-1003-... ⇒ made March 2010 in Clemmons, NC.

Goldline Products — August 2011–Present (alphanumeric format)

Example format: 4A20021-104377

• 3rd–4th characters: year (20 → 2020)

• 5th–7th characters: day of year (021 → 21st day of the year)
  Example: 4A20021-... ⇒ made on the 21st day of 2020 (January 21, 2020).
