💧 How to Properly Collect a Pool Water Sample

Accurate water testing starts with a proper sample! For the best results, we recommend analyzing your pool water within 1–2 hours of collection. However, if testing is delayed, follow the steps below to maintain sample integrity.

🧪 Best Practices for Water Sampling

✅ 1. Sample Timing

• Take your sample after the pool has circulated for several hours.

• This ensures chemicals are evenly distributed throughout the water.

✅ 2. Where to Sample

• Collect from the deep end of the pool.

• Submerge the container to elbow depth (~12–18 inches below the surface).

• Avoid areas near returns, skimmers, or walls, as water may be unbalanced due to circulation patterns.

✅ 3. Use a Clean, Sealed Container

• Use a clean, dedicated sample container to avoid contamination.

• Make sure the lid is airtight to prevent evaporation or chemical loss.

✅ 4. Limit Exposure to Sunlight

• UV light can reduce chlorine levels and affect chemical stability.

• Store your sample in a shaded or dark area if you can't test it right away.

✅ 5. Keep it Cool

• Store the sample in a cool, dry place to slow down chemical changes while in transit.

⏱ What If You Can't Test Right Away?

• Ideal window: Test within 1–2 hours

• Maximum delay: Within 24 hours, though some values (like chlorine) may degrade over time
