🛠️ Pool Cleaner Troubleshooting Guide

If your pool cleaner isn't performing as expected, don’t worry — many issues have simple fixes. Use the steps below to diagnose and correct common problems.

🔌 Important: Always unplug the power supply before inspecting or cleaning your pool cleaner.

⚡ 1. Power Issues

Symptoms: Power supply won’t turn on, no lights, cleaner won’t start.
Possible Causes:

  • No power at outlet

  • Power supply is off or unplugged

  • Power cable not fully connected

Fixes:

  • Confirm outlet is live (test with another device)

  • Plug in and switch on power supply

  • Firmly reconnect the black power cable

  • Reset the system: unplug, wait 30 seconds, then plug back in

🐢 2. Pool Cleaner Not Moving / Red Light On Power Supply

Symptoms: Cleaner is unresponsive or red fault light is on.
Possible Causes:

  • Floating cable not properly connected

  • Obstruction in impeller, wheels, or drive tracks

  • Cleaner out of water

Fixes:

  • Ensure blue floating cable is fully connected

  • Check for debris in the impeller area and wheels

  • Remove the cleaner from the pool, then submerge it properly (wait for air to escape)

🔄 3. Pool Cleaner Moves in Circles

Symptoms: Cleaner spins or turns without covering the pool.
Possible Causes:

  • Clogged filter basket

  • Debris stuck in impeller

  • Twisted/kinked floating cable

  • Power supply placed incorrectly

  • Imbalanced water chemistry or algae on surfaces

Fixes:

  • Clean the filter basket

  • Remove debris from impeller

  • Fully unwind cable, lay flat in the sun to release memory

  • Place power supply at pool center, 5–12 ft. from edge

  • Brush the pool and correct chemistry

➡️ 4. Pool Cleaner Only Moves in One Direction

Symptoms: Cleaner doesn’t reverse or turn.
Possible Causes:

  • Debris in impeller or directional valve

  • Mechanical failure (drive motor or software issue)

Fixes:

  • Check and clear impeller

  • If issue persists, contact service provider

🧹 5. Pool Cleaner Moves But Doesn’t Clean

Symptoms: Movement is normal, but no debris is collected.
Possible Causes:

  • Filter basket is clogged or damaged

  • Suction or intake area blocked

Fixes:

  • Thoroughly clean or replace the filter basket

  • Inspect and remove debris from intake ports and impeller

🌐 6. Cleaner Only Cleans Part of the Pool

Symptoms: Cleaner covers limited area
Possible Causes:

  • Power supply positioned too far or in corner

  • Insufficient slack in cable

  • Filter basket is clogged

Fixes:

  • Place power supply in the middle of the pool length

  • Uncoil and straighten floating cable

  • Clean the filter basket

🪢 7. Floating Cable Has Kinks or Memory

Symptoms: Cleaner tangles or cable coils tightly
Fixes:

  • Remove all kinks manually

  • Stretch cable out flat in the sun for several hours

  • Store cable loosely when not in use

  • Alternate cleaner's path each use

🧗 8. Pool Cleaner Doesn’t Climb Walls

Symptoms: Cleaner avoids walls or slides off
Possible Causes:

  • Filter basket is clogged

  • Algae on pool walls

  • Low pH or poor water chemistry

  • Excess air in cleaner

Fixes:

  • Clean the filter basket

  • Brush walls and vacuum manually

  • Balance water chemistry

  • Fully submerge cleaner to release trapped air
