🧼 How to Clean and Protect Your Spa Cover (Vinyl Skin) Using 303 Products

Your spa cover does a lot of heavy lifting—keeping heat in, debris out, and protecting your water from the elements. But it also takes the brunt of sun, rain, and snow, which can cause cracking, fading, and mildew over time. Regular maintenance using quality products like 303 Multi-Surface Cleaner and 303 Aerospace Protectant will extend the life of your vinyl cover and keep it looking fresh year-round.

What You’ll Need

🧽 Step 1: Clean the Cover Thoroughly

First, remove dirt, debris, and any built-up grime.

  1. Rinse off the surface using a hose or damp cloth.

  2. Spray on 303 Multi-Surface Cleaner generously across the entire vinyl surface.  In a pinch, if you don't have 303, you can use a mild soap/water or baking soda/water solution.

  3. Scrub gently with a soft brush or microfiber towel to lift away dirt, making sure to hit the top, perimeter, and side flaps.

  4. Rinse clean with fresh water to remove all cleaner and residue.

  5. Dry completely with a clean towel. Make sure there’s no moisture left before applying protectant.

💡 Tip: Don’t forget to clean the underside of the cover—it’s often where mildew starts to form.

☀️ Step 2: Protect the Vinyl with 303 Aerospace Protectant

Once the cover is clean and dry, apply 303 Aerospace Protectant to restore UV protection and preserve flexibility.

  1. Spray the protectant evenly across the top surface.

Do you have mold growing on your cover?

If you have a stain that will not come off with the 303 products you may have mold or mildew.  For these we would recommend spraying with bleach and scrubbing it occasionally and waiting for summer (if it is winter). When summer comes. on a hot day if you unzip the cover, open it up and bleach the inside (where the mold is coming from) and let the sun heat it up for a day, it should hopefully kill it all.

If the cover is attached to the cover lift you can do this process by doing one side one day and flipping it to the other side the next day. Make sure you get the zipper as well. If it is an Arctic cover you can pull out the inserts gently and set it in the in the sun on both sides and expose the inside of the cover. Sun and bleach is the best solution long term to kill any mold.
