Arctic Spa Filters: 2009–2019 & 2020+ Classic/Core Series Filter Guide
Arctic Spas have used several different filter styles over the years. This guide covers the filter options commonly used in 2009–2019 Arctic Spas and 2020 and newer Arctic Classic Series and Core Series spas.
The correct filter depends on the filtration setup in your spa and whether you are using a traditional pleated cartridge, a Silver Sentinel filter, or the Arctic Rescue Bag system.

Standard 50 Sq. Ft. Pleated Arctic Spa Filters
Traditional pleated cartridge filters use a large surface area of pleated media to capture dirt, debris, oils and other material as water circulates through the spa.
These filters are reusable. They should be rinsed regularly and periodically cleaned with a spa filter cleaning solution. Replace the cartridge when the pleats begin to deteriorate, the filter cannot be cleaned effectively, or water flow remains restricted after cleaning.

The HF4H949-01 is a 50 sq. ft. pleated replacement cartridge compatible with filters including the Unicel 4CH-949 and 4CH-949AM.

The Unicel 4CH-949 is a standard 50 sq. ft. pleated cartridge used in 2009–2019 Arctic Spas and 2020+ Classic and Core Series spas equipped with this threaded filter system.

Unicel 4CH-949AM Antimicrobial Filter
The 4CH-949AM has the same basic size and threaded configuration as the standard 4CH-949 but uses antimicrobial filter media.
Antimicrobial media can help inhibit microbial growth within the filter media between cleanings, but it does not replace normal spa sanitation, water balancing or filter cleaning.

Another threaded filter option is the Arctic PRT-900007 Atlantis Silver Sentinel. This filter uses the threaded Arctic filtration configuration and replaces the older PRT-900003.
Because Arctic has used several filtration configurations over the years, we recommend comparing your existing filter and filter compartment before ordering if you are unsure which version your spa uses.

The Arctic Silver Sentinel Rescue Bag is a temporary fine-particle filtration system designed to help remove extremely small suspended material from the water.
It can be especially useful:
- After draining and refilling the spa
- When fresh fill water contains fine sediment
- After unusually heavy spa usage
- When the spa becomes cloudy from suspended particles
- When additional fine-particle filtration is temporarily needed
PRT-900010 Silver Sentinel Rescue Bag
The PRT-900010 Rescue Bag is the microfiber bag used as part of this filtration setup. It captures very fine suspended particles that may pass through a conventional pleated cartridge.

When your Arctic Spa is configured for a Rescue Bag, one of the following short filters is used along with the Rescue Bag:
PRT-900013 Pleated Short SAE Filter
A short reusable pleated filter with a threaded connection and handle for use with the Arctic Rescue Bag filtration setup.

The PRT-900011 is the Silver Sentinel-style stubby option used in Rescue Bag filtration configurations.

Arctic Spa Floating Filter Weir
The black circular piece that floats above the filter is the filter bucket weir. The current replacement is Arctic part JET-117177.
This floating weir is used on pre-2020 Arctic Spas and on 2020+ Classic and Core Series spas. It moves with the water level and helps direct surface water and floating debris into the filtration system.

The floating weirs can also provide a quick visual indication of water flow. While the primary circulation pump is operating, the weirs should normally be pulled down slightly by the water flowing into the filter compartment.
If a weir remains unusually high or rises above the normal water level while the pump is circulating, inspect the filters for restriction. A heavily loaded or dirty filter can reduce water flow enough to contribute to FLO, HL or other circulation-related errors.
How to Remove and Replace an Arctic Spa Threaded Filter
- Place the spa into Standby mode or turn circulation off before servicing the filters.
- Remove the floating filter bucket weir.
- Reach into the filter compartment and unscrew the existing threaded filter.
- Inspect the filter bucket for debris.
- Thread the clean or replacement filter into place by hand.
- Do not overtighten the cartridge.
- Reinstall the floating weir.
- Restore normal circulation and confirm proper water flow.
A dirty or restricted filter can reduce circulation. If you suspect a filter restriction, remove the filter and test circulation according to the troubleshooting procedures for your spa. If the error remains with the filter removed, additional troubleshooting may be required.

Have a 2020+ Arctic Custom Series Spa?
2020 and newer Arctic Custom Series spas use a different filtration configuration than the Classic and Core Series spas discussed above.
If you have a 2020+ Custom Series spa, use the Custom Series filtration information instead.

Arctic Spas manufactured before 2020 can have different filter configurations depending on the spa's age and filtration system. If the filters above do not match what is installed in your spa, one of these older styles may be what you need.

View Unicel C-4950AMDo not assume a filter will fit based on the spa's manufacture year alone. Older Arctic Spas can have different filtration systems. Comparing the dimensions, ends and connection style of your existing filter is the safest way to identify the correct replacement.
