How to Use REVIVE!® Pool Cleaner to help fix Cloudy or Green Pools

⚠️ Thing to Know Before You Start

  • Make sure your pool allows for Vacuuming to waste (Sand or DE Filter, or a waste bypass valve).
  • If you cannot Vacuum to Waste, it is possible to vacuum through the filter. However, it will not work nearly as well.  Some of the fine particles and phosphates will be able to go through the filter back into your water.  You will also need to clean your filters, possibly multiple times, because of the amount of debris going through them.

🧼 Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Brush Walls & Manually remove large debris (leaves, branches) with a net or skimmer.  The more left in the pool, the more REVIVE you will need to drop it to the bottom.

2. Add water to the top of the skimmers so you don’t need to refill as much after vacuuming to waste.

3. Shock the Pool

  • With pump running, shock the water following the shock product instructions. Skip this step if you already have chlorine in the pool.
  • Circulate the water for 60 minutes

3. Turn Off the Pump

  • REVIVE! works best when the water is still, allowing it to settle particles.

4. Apply REVIVE!

  • Use the recommended amount: 32 oz for 24,000 gallons. Scale accordingly. If algae issue is severe, use a double dose.
  • Slowly spray 1 qt. (32 oz.) of Revive! ® START UP/CLEAN UP per 24,000 gallons over the surface of the pool. Please allow 5-7 minutes to spray the complete contents of bottle.

5. Let It Sit (Do Not Run the Pump)

  • Allow the pool to sit still for 24–48 hours.
  • During this time, REVIVE! will bind phosphates, metals, and debris, and settle them to the bottom.
  • The warmer the water, the faster Revive! works. Please allow up to 72 hours to see results in colder temperatures.
  • High Surface Tension can cause particulates to bubble up and create deposits on the water surface. Break the tension by spraying garden hose water over the pool surface to allow Revive!® to send particles to the bottom.

6. Vacuum to Waste

  • After 24–48 hours, you’ll see sediment on the pool floor.
  • Set your filter to “waste” or “drain” mode.
  • Close any skimmers you are not vacuuming out of, so they don’t suck air if the water level goes below the skimmer line.
  • Vacuum the pool to waste slowly to avoid stirring up the sediment.

7. Restart the Pump & Filter

  • Once vacuuming is complete, restart your pump and filtration system.
  • Run the filter continuously until the water clears (typically another 24–48 hours).

After the appropriate treatment and the water has circulated for a continuous 18-24 hours, test your water and make any necessary balancing adjustments or bring a sample to your local pool professional. They can provide you with detailed balancing instructions.
