Pool Opening & Closing Chemical Directions

At Premier Pool & Spa, we take a thoughtful and results-driven approach to pool care. Our service team does not add chemicals during pool openings. Based on years of experience, we’ve found that allowing your pool to circulate overnight after opening leads to far better outcomes.

Here’s why:

  • Water chemistry varies dramatically between the top and bottom of the pool after the water sits stagnant all winter. Adding chemicals immediately can result in:

    • Wasting money on unneeded chemicals

    • Worsening water conditions due to improper dosing

  • Our recommendation: Let your pool circulate overnight, then bring in a water sample for free testing. We’ll provide tailored recommendations based on your actual pool chemistry.

  • Unlike others, we don’t rush to sell you chemicals during opening—we focus on what your pool actually needs.

This same philosophy applies to pool closings:

  • We have customers bring in a water sample before their scheduled closing.

  • This ensures we test & assist you in balancing the water properly and match your closing chemical kit (chlorine vs. non-chlorine) to your pool’s needs.

  • By doing this up to 7 days before closing, the chemicals have time to fully circulate—maximizing their effectiveness.

These practices have consistently led to cleaner, clearer pools and long-term savings for our customers. We believe the results speak for themselves.
