This is Raypak's heat exchanger drain valve, a small valve with a 1/8 in. NPT thread that is opened to let the water out of the heater before freezing weather. On the current 206A to 406A, 207A to 407A and 408A heaters with the metal ASME heat exchanger it sits in the return header, where polymer-header models have a drain plug instead. Raypak's parts lists show the same valve on many of its earlier Versa, RP2100, Gemini and Spa-Pak heaters; the list below gives the models.

• Raypak's winterizing steps for the 206A to 406A, 207A to 407A and 408A reach this drain through the heat exchanger inspection panel, which is on the side of the heater away from the water piping.
