This thermal fuse is the flame roll-out safety on Raypak atmospheric gas heaters. Raypak describes it as a single-use fusible link: it opens when it overheats, which happens when the flue passages of the heat exchanger are badly restricted, and it has to be replaced before the heater will run again. Digital models report an open fuse as Rollout Sw Open.

📌 Good to know:

• Non-returnable: this fuse can burn out as soon as it is installed if the underlying problem, such as a blocked flue or a sooted heat exchanger, has not been fixed. Troubleshoot the heater before replacing the fuse.
• If a new fuse burns out right away, the heater has a problem that another fuse will not fix. Heavy soot in the heat exchanger, or missing insulation in the combustion chamber, can open the fuse almost at once. The heater then needs service, and on an older heater it is worth comparing the cost of that repair with a replacement heater.
• Raypak's troubleshooting for an open rollout circuit is to check for a blocked or sooted heat exchanger and, on atmospheric units, to replace the fusible link. The 106A and 156A manual also names flame roll-out and high winds as causes. Find and clear the cause before fitting a new fuse.
• Work on the safety circuit of a gas heater is for a qualified service technician.
