The Crosswind V 4550 is the smallest size in Raypak's Crosswind V line of vertical-discharge heat pumps for residential pools and spas, and this is the Standard heat-only model. It takes heat from the outside air and moves it into the pool water through a titanium tube heat exchanger, and is rated at 85,000 BTU per hour with a 5.8 COP at 80 degrees F air, 80% humidity and 80 degrees F water. Its control connects to Wi-Fi for the Raymote phone app and can also run valve actuators, a pump and auxiliary pool equipment.

✅ Made for:

• Residential pools and spas on 2 in. plumbing with a 208-230 V, single-phase supply.
• Outdoor installation only. Raypak does not certify the Crosswind V for indoor use; it cannot go in a shed or garage or under a deck or porch.
• Raypak's minimum recommended water flow is 20 GPM. Above 40 GPM the 4550 needs an external bypass; Raypak's bypass assembly kit 100-10000816 is sold separately for Standard models.
• Heating only. Pool cooling (Cool Mode) is on Raypak's Deluxe heat/cool models, TWPH-6550EHC08 and TWPH-8550EHC08.

• Electrical: 208-230 VAC, single phase, 60 Hz. Input 4.3 kW. Minimum circuit ampacity 38 A. Breaker 50 A minimum, 60 A maximum; Raypak recommends 50 A.
• Refrigerant: R-410A.
• Heat exchanger: titanium tube.
• Water connections: 2 in. PVC unions, reached through the front panel. Two union halves come with the heater.
• Control: digital display with pool, spa and timed spa modes, and Wi-Fi for the Raymote app. Pool setpoint limit adjustable up to 95 degrees F, spa up to 104 degrees F.
• Built-in automation: outputs for two valve actuators, a single-speed or variable-speed pump and auxiliary on/off equipment such as lights or water features. The control can also call a gas or electric heater as auxiliary heat.

📌 Good to know:

• A heat pump puts out less heat per hour than a gas heater and may run many hours a day to hold temperature. Raypak recommends covering the pool when it is not in use.
• Leave 5 ft of open space above the unit and 1 ft on each side for service, and keep it at least 3 ft from any gas or other fuel-burning heater.
• Chlorinators and chemical feeders go after the heater, with a check valve or Hartford loop between them.
• If the heater sits below the pool water line, the water pressure switch may need adjusting, and Raypak's manual calls for an external water flow switch (kit H000166, not included).
• Electrical connection is for a licensed electrician, and any work on the sealed refrigerant circuit is for a qualified technician.

Gas, venting and electrical work must be done by a qualified installer and meet local codes.
