Dolphin LIBERTY 600 Deluxe (99998600-US) at a glance

The LIBERTY 600 is the top of Maytronics' cordless LIBERTY line and the one built for full-size backyard pools. It carries roughly twice the battery of the LIBERTY 200–400, cleans steps and sun ledges as well as the floor, walls and waterline, and adds a real cleaning scheduler, wall homing and the Maytronics One app.

  • Coverage: floor, walls, waterline, steps and sun ledges (13 in deep or more)
  • Cycle: 3-hour full-coverage cycle per charge; Floor-only and Ultra Clean programs in the app
  • Charging: up to 4.5 hours to full on the included charger
  • Eco Mode scheduler: up to 2 weeks of scheduled floor cleaning on one charge
  • Retrieval: parks at a wall you choose (homing) plus Click-Up with the included Clicker
  • Filtration: top-access multi-layer basket with fine and ultra-fine panels included
  • Pool size: up to 50 ft long; in-ground and above-ground
  • Warranty: 3-year limited (Maytronics)

Our pairing pick: add a Betta SE Plus solar skimmer

Most of what ends up on your pool floor starts out floating: leaves, pollen, bugs and dust. The Betta SE Plus solar robotic skimmer patrols the surface all day on solar power and catches that debris before it sinks. With the surface handled, the LIBERTY 600 has less to pick up, its filter basket fills more slowly, and you won't need to run (or charge) it as often. Both units are cordless, so there's no cable for the robot to tangle with while they share the pool.

Maytronics overview

Charging & battery: what to expect

The most common surprise with any cordless robot: one charge = one full cleaning cycle. It isn't charged once a week like a phone. After a regular 3-hour cycle, take it out, rinse the filter basket, and charge it (up to 4.5 hours). The exception is the Eco Mode scheduler, which spreads one charge over several shorter cleans while the robot stays in the pool.

Situation What to plan for
Normal weekly upkeep Either run a full 3-hour cycle and recharge as often as your pool needs, or set an Eco schedule (below) and let it run on its own for the week.
Eco Mode scheduler Set in the app. Choose one: Half week – two 90-min full-coverage cleans, 72 hours apart; Full week (default) – three 60-min full-coverage cleans, 72 hours apart; 2 weeks – six 40-min floor-only cleans, 48 hours apart. Between cleans it parks at its homing wall. When the schedule ends, take it out, rinse the filter and recharge.
Spring opening / pool closed all winter This is not a one-charge job, and not an Eco Mode job. Winter leaves and silt fill the basket fast, and a full basket hurts suction and climbing. Net out the big debris, get the water clear and above 41°F (warmer is better), use the fine panels for the first heavy cleanups, then run several full cycles over a few days, rinsing the basket and recharging between each.
Fine dust, pollen, silt Switch to the ultra-fine panels once heavy debris is gone. They catch more but use more power, so expect shorter run time per charge.
Run time Full Coverage and Floor-only cycles run 3 hours; Maytronics advertises up to 4.5 hours of run time per charge. Ultra Clean uses stronger suction on a shorter cycle. Run time varies with filter choice and debris, and like any lithium-ion battery, it slowly drops over the seasons. The battery is sealed and not user-replaceable.
End of a cycle It returns to its homing wall (you pick which wall in the app) and waits about 1 minute to be lifted out. If nobody grabs it, it climbs back down and faces the wall. Shake the Clicker in the water for 3–5 seconds and it climbs the homing wall. Click-Up works up to 14 days after a full cycle started on a full battery, or at least 2 days after an Eco schedule or partial-charge cycle.
Using the Clicker during Eco Mode Pulling the robot out with the Clicker cancels the remaining scheduled cleans. Restart the Eco schedule in the app before you put it back in.
Where to charge it In the shade or indoors, with the charger at least 4 in off the ground, plugged straight into a GFCI-protected outlet (no extension cord). It's fine to charge it wet right out of the pool, as long as the charger isn't sitting in water.
Winter storage Maytronics says to store it at about half charge (2 green bars), somewhere between 14°F and 104°F, then fully charge it before the first use of the season.

Cleaning programs

Program Covers Length
Full Coverage (default) Floor, walls, waterline, steps, sun ledges 3 hr
Floor only Pool floor 3 hr
Ultra Clean Intensive clean with stronger suction Shorter cycle
Eco: Half week Full coverage 2 × 90 min, every 72 hr
Eco: Full week Full coverage 3 × 60 min, every 72 hr
Eco: 2 weeks Floor only 6 × 40 min, every 48 hr

  • Connects by Bluetooth (one user) or Wi-Fi (up to 5 users, plus remote status and automatic updates)
  • Start cycles and get a notification when the cycle ends
  • Set Eco schedules and pick the homing wall

The app can't talk to the robot while it's underwater. Check status before it goes in or after it comes out.

Minnesota owners: temperatures that matter

  • Operating water temperature: 41°F to 95°F, so it can start early in a cold May.
  • Charging temperature: 43°F to 95°F. On cold spring and fall nights, charge it in the garage, not on the deck.
  • Off-season: bring it indoors at half charge (see storage above); don't leave it in a hot shed or a freezing one.

Water chemistry limits

Per the Maytronics manual: chlorine up to 4 ppm, pH 7.0–7.8, salt up to 5,000 ppm. It's fine in typical saltwater pools. Keep it out of the water during a shock treatment until chlorine is back below 4 ppm, and don't run it right after adding a liquid flocculant or clarifier, which can damage the filters.

Common questions

How often do I need to charge it?
After every full cycle. On an Eco schedule, once at the end of the schedule (half week, full week or 2 weeks, depending on the option you pick).

Can it clean my pool right after opening in the spring?
Yes, but plan on several full cycles over a few days, not one, and rinse the basket and recharge between runs.

Can it stay in the pool all week?
Only on an Eco schedule, where it parks at its homing wall between cleans. Otherwise take it out after each cycle.

Will it work in an above-ground pool?
Yes. Maytronics rates the LIBERTY 600 for in-ground and above-ground pools at least 1.3 ft deep.
