The Raypak Digital 336A is an atmospheric gas heater for pools and spas, rated at 332,500 BTU per hour on natural gas. It has a copper fin-tube heat exchanger with polymer headers, electronic ignition and a digital thermostat with an LCD display. Item 009218 is the natural gas version built for installations from sea level to 2,000 ft.

✅ Made for:

• Fuel: natural gas only. The propane 336A for the same elevation is a different item number (009226).
• Elevation: sea level to 2,000 ft (burner orifice #50). Raypak lists item 009222 for 2,000 to 6,000 ft and item 009848 for 6,000 to 9,000 ft.
• Outdoor installation as shipped, using the stackless top packed with the heater. Indoor installation needs Raypak indoor stack kit 009840 and a vent to the outside.
• Pump flow between 35 and 100 GPM. Above 100 GPM Raypak calls for an external bypass valve.

📌 Good to know:

• Raypak's rated input applies up to 2,000 ft. Above that the manual reduces input 4% for each 1,000 ft above sea level, and Raypak sells separate versions of this heater for higher elevations.
• This is an atmospheric heater, not a Low NOx model. Raypak's Low NOx Digital heaters are the 207A to 407A models, and Raypak notes that some states and localities require Low NOx heaters.
• The ProTek Shield is a wear item. Raypak says to replace it when its weight has dropped to about 40% of the original.
• Salt chlorinators and chemical feeders must be plumbed downstream of the heater. Raypak's water chemistry table allows up to 4,500 ppm salt.
• Gas, venting and electrical work must be done by a qualified installer or service agency. Raypak's warranty applies to heaters installed by a licensed service provider.
