Raypak heaters have an automatic bypass built into the in/out header. It responds to changes in water pressure in the pool piping so that the right amount of water passes through the heat exchanger as pump and filter conditions change. 006716F is the valve part of that bypass on heaters with polymer headers; the dam and shaft and the spring have their own part numbers, and the complete set is sold as a bypass kit.

• Bypass valve only. On the 206A to 406A and 207A to 407A the related Raypak numbers are bypass dam and shaft 006717F, bypass spring 006718F and the complete bypass kit 006715F
• On the 106A and 156A the complete kits are 011601F (106A) and 015548F (156A) and the spring is 011602F

📌 Good to know:

• On the 206A to 406A and 207A to 407A, ASME units with bronze headers use a different bypass valve, 016194F, and so does the 408A. RP2100 heaters with ASME cast iron headers use bypass valve assembly 062235B.
• Raypak warns that the water conditions that ruin a tube bundle have very likely damaged the bypass valve as well, and recommends inspecting the bypass assembly whenever a tube bundle is replaced.
