Raypak 017996F Copper Heat Exchanger Assembly for 336A and 337A Heaters
Part # 017996F | Genuine Raypak replacement part | For polymer-header 336A and 337A heaters built from October 2019
This is Raypak's copper heat exchanger assembly for the 336A and the Low NOx 337A in their residential form, the heaters with polymer headers. The heat exchanger is the fin tube section above the burners where the pool water picks up heat. Raypak lists this part number for heaters built from October 2019; its parts lists give a different number for earlier heaters.
✅ Fits these Raypak models:
- 336A digital atmospheric heater with polymer headers and a copper heat exchanger (model numbers ending in C, such as P-R336A-EN-C and P-R336A-EP-C), built from October 2019
- 337A digital Low NOx heater with polymer headers and a copper heat exchanger, built from October 2019
- Millivolt 336A heaters with polymer headers and a copper heat exchanger, built from October 2019 (Raypak built the millivolt models until 2020): Raypak's 2019 parts list covers digital and millivolt heaters in one column and gives this one assembly, with no separate millivolt number
- 336A heaters built before October 2019 are listed in Raypak's parts lists with a different assembly, 010045F
- Not for cupronickel heaters (model numbers ending in X); for those built from October 2019 Raypak lists 018000F. Not for ASME heaters with metal headers
- Other sizes have their own assemblies: 017994F (206A/207A), 017995F (266A/267A) and 017997F (406A/407A)
🔧 Details:
- Raypak part name: Heat Exchanger Assy Copper, units manufactured from 10/2019 (callout 1-HP)
- Fin tube material: copper
- For Raypak's polymer-header heat exchanger, the residential design
- Heater input rating: 332,500 BTU/h (336A with a copper heat exchanger, and 337A)
- Raypak lists the copper tube bundle on its own as 010061F
📌 Good to know:
- Raypak's parts list warns that copper and cupronickel heat exchangers are not interchangeable: a heater with suffix C must get copper parts and a heater with suffix X must get cupronickel parts.
- Confirm the heater's build date before ordering. October 2019 is the dividing line in Raypak's parts lists between this assembly and the earlier 010045F.
- Raypak's removal procedure for the heat exchanger starts with shutting off water, gas and electricity and takes off the jacket top and flue collector. It is work for a qualified technician.
Check your heater's model and serial number before ordering.
